Baseball Draft is today!

Going to use this post to update any draft information. Feel free to use the comments section.

Hopefully I will get a chance to watch some of the first round of the draft on ESPN2 today. How about you? Are you planning on watching any of it?

Like I mentioned yesterday, MLB.com will be covering the whole draft. Their main draft page is located here and their draft tracker is located here.

Updated at 10:45am: Hall of Famer Robin Roberts and Dallas Green are scheduled to join Lee McDaniel in Orlando today representing the Phillies organization.

Updated at 1:50pm: Draft time is almost here. Should the Phillies take someone with college experience or a high schooler?

Updated at 3:55pm: ESPN2 showed a shot of the draft table in Orlando with Lee on the phone prior to the pick. They also showed the draft room back in Philadelphia. The Phillies selected Joe Savery from Rice. He played first base and was the Sunday pitcher for the Owls this past season while recovering from an injury. He's 6'3" and weighs 215lbs. He throws and bats from the left side. Rice takes on Texas aTm in NCAA Super Regional play this weekend.

Being that Savery came from the college ranks, how soon do you think we'll see him Clearwater? Is this season a possibility or does 2008 have a better chance?

According to the quotes I've seen, it looks like he'll start at GCL, and then move to Williamsport. I don't think they will want to overwork him considering his recent injuries.

Rice plays Texas A&M today at 7pm on ESPN.
