Chris Roberson Traded

Former Thresher Chris Roberson has been traded from the Phillies to the Baltimore Orioles. The Phillies will receive cash in return.

Roberson hit .307 for the Clearwater Threshers during the 2004 season.

He split each of the last two seasons between Triple-A and and Philadelphia.

FSU set to return to Bright House Networks Field on February 26

Florida State University's baseball team will be returning to Bright House Networks Field on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. They will face the Philadelphia Phillies in an exhibition contest.

The 2007 exhibition game saw nearly 5,000 fans in the stands at Bright House Networks Field, many clad in FSU's colors of garnet and gold. The Seminoles enjoyed a 1-0 lead as Tony Thomas led off the game with a home run. The lead was short-lived as the Phillies scored four in their half of the first inning en route to a 12-4 Phillies win.

Former Threshers in the exhibition game included Chris Roberson who was hitless in just one at-bat. Additionally, pitchers Alfredo Simon and Joe Bisenius combined to give up just one run, and two hits, while striking out three in three innings.

Former Thresher Mike Zagurksi wins 2007 Paul Owens Award

Former Thresher Mike Zagurski has won the Paul Owens Award for best pitcher in the Phillies minor league system in 2007.

Zagurski started the season in Clearwater and made 12 appearances for the Threshers as a reliever. He struck out 30 in 16.1 innings of work holding FSL batters to a .113 average. He gave up just six hits and two earned runs good for a 1.10 ERA. Zagurksi had five saves for the Threshers before his promotion to Reading (Double-A).

He played in just six games for the R-Phils before being brought up to the Major League roster. Over the next few months he spent a majority of his time (25 appearances) with the Phillies, but also spent time (seven appearances) with the Ottawa Lynx (Triple-A). He was on the major league roster when an injury ended his season in late August.

Past winners of the Paul Owens Award include former Threshers Carlos Carrasco, Chris Roberson, and Cole Hamels.

Injuries in Phillies Outfield Good News for Former Thresher

The Phillies placed Shane Victorino and Michael Bourn on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday. To take their place, they re-instated Jayson Werth from the disabled list and also called up former Thresher Chris Roberson from Ottawa.

Werth played in four games for the Threshers during his rehab assignment.

Roberson spent the 2004 season with the Threshers.

Phillies send several former Threshers to minor league camp

The Phillies made thirteen transactions prior to today's game with the Houston Astros re-assigning all of them to the minor league camp at the Carpenter Complex.

Former Threshers on the list include Tim Gradoville, Greg Golson, and Chris Roberson.

Spring Training Update: Former Threshers (through 3/2)

Chris Roberson has struggled so far striking out in each of his three plate appearances this spring with the big league club.

J.A. Happ pitched two innings during yesterday's win against the Cleveland Indians. Happ struck out one and gave up one hit.

Former Threshers' pitcher Cole Hamels, pitcher Alfredo Simon, and outfielder Chris Roberson have agreed to terms on new contracts with the Phillies. They are all on the current Phillies 40-man roster.

Former Threshers OF Chris Roberson back with the Phils

The Phillies just recalled former Threshers OF Chris Roberson from Scranton (AAA). Roberson last played with the Phillies on July 9th. Roberson only has 1 hit in his 18 plate appearances this year in the majors.

Phillies catcher Sal Fasano joins Threshers for rehab assignment

Phillies catcher Sal Fasano joins the Clearwater Threshers today as part of his rehab assignment. He was put on the Phillies DL due to left knee inflammation.

In other player moves, pitcher Pat Overholt was promoted from Lakewood (A) yesterday to the Threshers. Also, pitcher Brian Reed was sent back to the Threshers from Reading (AA). Reed has already appeared in 14 games with the Threshers this year and has 6 saves.

Former Clearwater Thresher outfielder Chris Roberson was optioned to Scranton (AAA) after catcher Mike Lieberthal was activated from the DL.
