The hazy days of summer

Just wanted to put out a quick note and let folks know that at this time, we are still planning on playing the ballgame as scheduled tonight. I'll update this post if things change.

Updated at 1:10pm: The sun is peeking out through the haze.

Updated at 6:00pm: The game has been postponed, please check the Official Site for more information.

You have done a disservice to your fans as this game should have clearly been canceled earlier.

Did you just now notice all the smoke?

I would agree with this comment

I don't think there was any intention of a desservice by the front office. If you people are tru fans, then I assume you have been at all the other games this week. I also suppose that you noticed on every one of the other days that though there was smoke in the afternoon, wind conditions changed in time for the game every day and it was playable by 7:00.

You cannot fault the team for believing that the same thing would happen today as it did every other day. Yes, it stinks that there is no game tonight, but it's not the end of the world. RELAX!

its just like a rain-out, you wait as long as possible until a game is cancelled bc if the game is playable, it should be played!! The smoke seemed to start to clear around 2pm.

I agree with the Thresher's front-office. Though its somewhat of a pain to have a game postponed, the players have too much riding on their health for it to be affected by smokey air, no matter how little the effect!

There was consideration given to the conditions throughout the day. The air quality was improving as the day continued. The weather service indicated the air quality was going to improve dramatically after 4pm. Unfortunately it did not improve enough for us to get the game in tonight like it did a few days ago.
